Leonardo takes over Rafael Benitez as Inter Milan coach

Following Rafeal Benitez sacking by Inter Milan board ,much speculation were made about who is to made the new boss. Finally, the ice is broken and former AC Milan boss Leonardo is named and will take over Inter Milan. Earlier boss Benitez, who took over FC Inter Milan in June  had signed a two-year contract to take charge at the reigning European and Serie A champions. He had a pretty successful tenure as coach, where recently he successfully led Inter Milan to FIFA Club World Cup victory and also won Italian Super Cup.His rift between the board started when Benitez asked for backing of the board to buy players following the Serie A side's Club World Cup win over Mazembe .But instead, the Inter board removed Benitez with the Serie A season currently on a winter break and Inter's next game scheduled for 6 January at home to Napoli. After him being sacked  former AC Milan boss Leonardo and Brazilian World Cup winner Leonardo will take up the reins on 29 December, where he shall be officially declared coach. His contract will last till June 2012.

“We believe Leonardo has the class and experience of a champion and his mentality will get the team together to get results,” Inter’s website read.

Leonardo has had good experience ,earlier he had coached AC Milan. He has also played for CR Flamengo, Sao Paolo FC, Valencia CF, Kashima Antlers, and Paris Saint Germain FC. He also played for the Brazilian national team, scoring eight goals within 56 games.
The 41 year old will be tested as Inter now stand seventh in the Serie A. They have won only 6 of their 15 league games this season. Leonardo will have to infuse in a major recovery in an attempt to close the 13-point gap between Inter and league leaders AC Milan.
