Serbia wins Davis Cup after heroics in Belgrade

Serbia celebrated their Davis Cup title on Sunday as Viktor Troicki thrashed France’s Michael Llodra to secure a memorable 3-2 victory inside a rocking Belgrade Arena with crowd of almost 17,000.It was their very first time when they clinched one of most prestigious team award in tennis which in returned sparked celebrations in the Belgrade Arena. Victor Troicki in the deciding singles brushed Micheal Llodra of France by 6-2 6-2 6-3 ,hitting a final passing shot winner to seal the French fate. Both Llodra and Troicki had faced each others in a doubles match where Troicki team lost, so this is a kind of redemption for the Serbians as well. Initially, Tipsarevic was drafted into the finals but last time choice by Bogan Obradovic made the real deal. Whereas the selection of Llodra by the French captain ahead of Giles Simon backfired as he could not control the potent Troicki.

Serbia begun the day 2-1 in arrears against the nine-times champions after losing a cliffhanger doubles rubber on Saturday, but it was the World number 3 Novak Djokovic who registered a thumping win over Gael Monfil with score of 6-2 6-2 6-4 which pulled the hosts to a 2-2 tie. Before that French duo of Llodra and Clement had put Zimonjic and Troicki to task in a pivotal double match brining French lead to 2-1. However the Novak stepped upto the task sweeping off Monfils who had beaten Tipsarevic in the first match rubber of five games final.

An over excited Djokovic had enjoyed his game to his utmost:
"It's one of the best matches of my career, in the circumstances," Djokovic told the official Davis Cup website.

So it would be party time all over Serbia , where they would be hailed as heroes ,and revered completely. Bravo to the Serbian team!
