Manchester United and Inter Milan into the quarter-finals of Champions League

Manchester United 2-1   Marseille (2-1 agg)
Inter Milan              3-2   Bayern Munich (3-3 agg)

Reigning champion Inter Milan and Manchester United won their fixtures on 15th March against Bayern Munich and  Marseille. Javier Hernandez(5',75') was the hero for the United whose double goal cruised them to 12th Champions League quarter finals. United felt the last burst of adrenaline pump in the 82nd minute ,when on a corner Brown produced an own goal, which for few minutes took the momentum to Marseille possession, but United defenders did what they had to and ended up on a high. Marseille had their chances to get a away goal, on which they would certainly had gone into quarters but lost their opportunity, wastefully done by Andre-Pierre Gignac and Souleymane Diawara in the first half.United could meet Barcelona, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Schalke, Shakhtar Donetsk and whoever progresses from Wednesday's Chelsea-Copenhagen and Real Madrid-Lyons ties.

On the other hand the defending champions Inter Milan went onto cruise into last eight on the basis of their away goal. Pandev(88') struck a dramatic goal just  2 minutes before 90 minutes,to secure their quarter finals berth. Samuel Eto's early strike got Milan into an 1-0 led, but Bayern Munich struck back with goals by Gomez(21') and Mueller(31') to extend their lead to 2-1 to secure first half lead. The spirited Milan went onto snatch the deficit back when Sneijder(63') equiliser got them back into the game. It might be safer so say thay both the teams had sub-standard defense which ultimately conceded five goals overall. Munich became more complacent in the second half after the lead, which ultimately led them to lose their place in the quarter finals.
