Rain in Mohali- Good News For Pakistan Team in many ways

Just a night before the biggest blockbuster Semi Final of ICC World Cup 2011 between Pakistan and India , heavens came into play when thunderstorm and heavy rains took place in Mohali. Seemingly spectators would find it un-appealing the prospect of rain, but it has came as saviour for Pakistan, and not very impressing from Indian spectator point of view.

But how one can say this in the favour of Pakistan , is to be discussed as under:

  • Punjab Cricket Association Ground at Mohali is deemed to be a batting paradise , since there is no grass and very hard. Consequently, the pitch plays very fast, and the ball tends to come onto the bat rather easily and nothing much for the seamers. With rain in effect the pitch will get damp, slow, and low which in return will assist the faster bowlers positively since it enables unpredictable seam-movement of the ballDamp or humid conditions can make the medium pace swing bowlers almost unplayable. Medium pacers often come into the attack when the fast bowlers tire and the ball is worn. According to the Mohali pitch curator Daljit Singh, ball is likely to seam around under the flood lights.
Since Pakistan is renowned for their seam bowling, on the other hand India lacking quality fast bowlers would become a great difference in both camps.
  • This also helps the spinners as well, as they get the ball to drift the ball more in the air, causing troubles for the opponent. Pakistan would be going along with leading wicket taker captain Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal, and part timer Mohammad Hafeez, so it will be a great prospect for the Pakistan camp.
  • According to the statement given by ICC if the match is unable to be continued on Wednesday due to rain, it would carry onto Thursday. Still if it does not happen, the 50 over match would be converted into 20 overs (Similar  to a T20 match). Even still it does not happen, Pakistan are to be through to the Finals on the basis of their previous group match points and position and play against Sri Lanka on 30th of Match on Saturday .
So let us see what happens in the morning, and how the game takes the turn. What ever it would be, the game would turn out to be a stunner.
